Mercy:

Key Aspects of Biblical Mercy definition is God not giving sinners the punishment they deserve, while grace is giving them what they do not deserve.

In His grace, God is willing to forgive us and bless us, even though we fall short of living righteously.

God says to let Him guide your life—not for you to guide it yourself. Temptation is real, but so is the power of God, which He gives you to choose what is right.

“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”  —Galatians 5:16 (NLT)

What does it mean to let the Holy Spirit guide your life? Let’s make it simple.                                                       

   Who or what is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth living inside us. When Jesus Christ was crucified and resurrected to secure salvation for all humanity by paying the penalty for sin (death) and defeating it through resurrection. He made a way for us to receive this gift The Holy Spirit. In the Book of John, Jesus promises that God will send the Holy Spirit to help us, teach us, and lead us.

“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.  – John 14:15-17 (NIV)

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The advocate intercedes, defends, or acts as a helper, specifically referring to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The biblical greek word for advocate is (parakletos) is one who pleads another’s cause before a judge. Believe it or not we all will be judged! So when we say, “let the Holy Spirit guide you,” that’s the advocate giving you guidance from God The Father, To God The Son, To The Holy Spirit, and told to you straight from God.

We have to put all effort to lean on the Holy Spirit so we can walk by the Spirit to overcome sinful desires. “Walk” implies a continuous, active lifestyle or conduct. This phrase suggests a daily, moment-by-moment reliance on the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength.

Because your fight has not been with flesh and blood, but with Principalities and The Rulers and The Powers of this dark world and with wicked spirits which are under Heaven.* Because of this, put on all the armor of God that you shall be able to confront The Evil One, and when you are ready in all things, you shall stand. – Ephesians 6:12-13 (ARA)

        When it says “Because your fight has not been with flesh and blood, but with Principalities and The Rulers and The Powers of this dark world”… That tells us right here there is more going on in this world than we could see.

In the bible Flesh is frequently used as a metaphor for fallen human nature, worldly perspectives, or self-reliant living, rather than merely referring to the physical body. – google

Principalities in the Bible (often “principalities and powers”) refer to high-ranking spiritual beings or authorities, typically interpreted as demonic forces under Satan’s control, operating in the unseen realm. These entities oppose God’s purpose and influence nations or human affairs, though they are ultimately subject to Christ’s authority. – google

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. -Galatians 5:19-21 (NIV)

Don’t be carnal minded! What makes a person carnal minded ?   

The carnal mind is not subject to the law of God. The carnal mind is not subject to the law of faith. Carnal minds always gives you reasoning and motives how it can benefit yourself. (Looking for a reward) Don’t trust the carnal mind. (Sel-fish)

          How do you know when you are being carnal minded?  When you lean to your carnal thoughts it leads to fear. God doesn’t give fear. Wrestling with the flesh is no joke. It’s being on Satan’s side.

“The flesh is the desire to please yourself as opposed to pleasing God. We all battle with the flesh. Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desire. Please don’t misread that. He didn’t say you won’t have the desire. Because the flesh wants what it wants. So you will have the desire but the spirit will override it. Don’t read the verse in reverse. Don’t read to get rid of the desire of the flesh walk in the spirit. That’s backwards. Walk in the spirit and it will overrule the desire of the flesh. It will overrule it. The capacity to do what you need to do or what God wants done will be activated in your experience as you walk in the Spirit” -Pastor Tony Evans

What is sexual immorality?

Sexual immorality in the Bible refers to any sexual activity occurring outside a covenant marriage between one man and one woman. Often translated from the Greek word porneia, it represents a “surrendering of sexual purity”. It acts as a blanket term for violations of sexual purity, including premarital sex, adultery, pornography, and other acts contrary to biblical design.

Several Examples of Sexual Immorality found in scripture along with brief explanations and supporting verses for reflection and study.

Adultery

Adultery is when a married person breaks their promise of loyalty by having a romantic or physical relationship with someone who is not their husband or wife

Exodus 20:14 (NIV) — “You shall not commit adultery.

Fornication (Premarital Sex)

Fornication refers to having sexual intercourse when you are not married to the person.

1 Corinthians 6:18 (KJV) — Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

Bestiality:

  Exodus 22:19 NKJV — Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.

Incest: Forbidden in Leviticus 18.

Homosexuality:

Leviticus 18:22 (GNT) — No man is to have sexual relations with another man; God hates that.

Prostitution/Commercial Sex Work:

1 Corinthians 6:15-16 — 15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

Lust/Pornography:

-Matthew 5:28 (NLT) — But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Now that we understand what sexual immorality means, let’s go back to the Scripture.

Galatians 5:19 (NIV) — 19The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

What does debauchery mean ?
